S stuff187 Beta member Messages 2 Jul 4, 2006 #1 Last week, my laptop played a DVD perfectly fine. Now, it doesnt recognize that a CD has even been entered into laptop. Any reason why this would happen? Hardware damage? Software CDs work just fine.

OP OP S stuff187 Beta member Messages 2 Jul 5, 2006 #3 It recognizes software CDs just fine. However, I've tried many DVDs - it doesnt recognize any of them, including ones that worked fine before. Any ideas on the culprit?

D dirgeKananga Baseband Member Messages 27 Jul 9, 2006 #4 Check the device manager for your video decoders and make sure your computer has updated codecs. If that's not the problem it may be an issue of a driver. You would probably have to contact the manufacturer for that.
