I downloaded it from MSDN. Its free for those of us who get it from our university. Not illegal.

Just ran Oblivion, it hovered around 20-25 FPS, at 1280x800 res., med textures, most of the stuff in the middle range settings with grass turned down a little more and low shadows.
Load times are increased, about 5-7 seconds longer.

Another observation, turn off UAC (the annoying popup asking if Windows can actually do something that you told it to), as it comes up every time you want to install software, copy a file, copy a folder, or do basically anything else. Its annoying.

There is a factory mode that you can put windows vista into in order to obtain all your updates.

The problem is, the fuctionality of factory mode is only their for installation of drivers and configuration. Any documents and files not related to the running on your operating system gets deleted the second you take your computer out of factory mode.

I know this as I am MS System Builder.
