I ran Driver Genius Professional Edition and Windows Update to see if I needed any video drivers updated (because video on my desktop has been choppy). Windows Update didn't find any video driver updates for me but DGPE did. It turns out there's an update for my S3 Savage video card. The driver (or driver package) is called:

S3 Incorporated Display Driver for Windows 2000/XP; Version 8.40.02

I downloaded the updated driver and unzipped to a folder on my desktop, which I named S3 Savage, and placed it in C:\Windows\Drivers\. I went to update the driver in Device Manager but it wouldn't recognize it.

I've been researching on Google how to manually install drivers but can't find a general purpose tutorial. Can anyone help me?

go to device manager, clcik on your vga driver, click update driver

when it ask for the cd, check I want to install from a specific location, head to your unzipped folder
