using a proxy with mIRC

Does anyone know how to use a proxy with mIRC. Do you need to install software, and if so is there any good anonymous proxy software that works with mIRC? All I can see are anti-firewall programs used to bypass a firewall. But is it a good idea to bypass your own firewall - won't you be exposed to contant attact? using a proxy with mIRC
