USB Power Surge

I recently went to transfer some pictures from my Digital Camera to my PC using a USB cable.

As soon as I hooked it up I got a message telling me of a surge on the USB port also telling me that the device was drawing to much power.

Everything I can find tells me that I need to get an external hub with it's own power source, however this has not been an issue in the past....just all of a sudden.

Any ideas? This is driving me nuts!!

Hmm,what Operating system do you have,in Windows 98 i forget where but there is setting where you can control how much power is going to the Usb ports.
