i need help

so what should i get in terms of UPS?
thats uninterpretable power supply for those that dont know
and what does VA mean?
any help is greatly appreciated

I have one, but I don't know a whole lot about them. Hopefully I can help at least a little bit.

You always want the ratings to be higher than what you're going to draw from it. I don't know how to calculate the VA ratings though. Just to give you a starting point, I'm running my computer with a 520 watt PSU and monitor off a 1285VA/750 watt Cyberpower UPS. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but I bought it when I didn't know much about them.

Also, try to get one that will auto-shutdown your computer in the event of a power outage. Mine does it via a USB cable and software installed on my computer. It allows you to set how long your computer stays up and will tell you information about the UPS.

Hope that helps.

a little yes
this is the one that i have in mind
Cyberpower 1500VA 900W
and it will shut down my pc via USB cable

What are your computer specs and what all do you plan to hook up to it?

i7 950
9GB DDR3
60GB SSD
1.5TB RAID 5 Array using 4 500GB WD Cavair Black
1.5TB HDD
HD 5870
8800 GT
5.1 Sound Card
bluray rom
2 DVD burners

The only thing I really know about UPSs is that APC is a good brand and Tripplite is a crappy brand. We have both kinds at work and the Tripplites are constantly failing.
