Upgrading - Good Bye Xmas Money

Solid State Member
Hi everyone. I'm new here...
I have all my money accounted for and I'm about to "checkout". I am really scared to buy these things because I'm not positive that they will work with my system, and that they are not the best bang for my buck. I was hoping I could post a list of the things I'm buying, along with my budget, and my current computer specs for you all to look over and give me advice on. I would be extremely grateful! Here we go:

Current computer Specs:
ASUS K8N Platinum nForce(2?) Mobo
Windows XP Home
AMD Anthlon64 3500+ Processor
1 gig DDR (2 X 512 Corsair DDR400mhz (3200))
ATI Radeon x850 Platinum AGP 256mb
No drives =***(
40 gig hardrive thats refurbished and probably stolen..
60 gig hardrive thats dying and skips a lot...
Big white goofy case
19' Samsung LCD

Okay. So you see, I need a new hardrive very badly, and I really need a Drive that plays DVDs and CDs. Plus, I decided to upgrade to 2 gigs of ram and get a new case. Here is what I have come up with on my grand total budget of...

I have $283.00

From newegg.com:

The case: Looks cool, good reviews, great price. $47.99
Rosewill TU-155 Black 0.8mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case Rosewill ATX12V 400W with P4 support Power Supply - Retail

The Hardrive: Hear Seagate is good, lots of space, fast (?), good price. $86.50
Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ST3120026A 120GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache IDE Ultra ATA100 Hard Drive - OEM
Note: SATA? Raid? ??WTF??

The Drive: I don't know. Plays DVDs and CDs. (right?) Good price. $22.00
SONY Black 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DDU1615/B2s - OEM

The Ram: Corsair. $100.00
CORSAIR XMS 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit System Memory - Retail
Grand Total: $280.47

So there you have it.
Are these good items? Will they be compatible with my motherboard? Am I missing something?

Please let me know if you need more information and thank you all SO MUCH for ANY help!

HOLY, that was some good work with your budget. The case is a lil weak, but rosewill is good for the money.
