I have bought myself a second hand PC. Pentium 3 880Mhz, 512Mb ram, 256Mb Graphics Card, WinXP, OfficeXP.
I'm not looking to spend a lot of money on upgrading at the moment but does anyone have any suggestions on what are the more essential things are that I need to upgrade.

256mb graphics card huh? You should give that to me. hehe.

Perhaps upgrade the proc speed to the highest P3 that the board will take, and maybe the hard drive and/or cd drives. Other than that, its a pretty solid box.

Assuming the motherboard on that is quite old, it may not be able to accept the newer PIII and Celeron processors (up to 1.4-1.53GHz) based on the Tualatin core - but there are adapters to make the conversion (The Upgradeware 370GU is a good one, just gotta be able to find it ;) )

The PIII Tualatin's have some core improvements over the older Coppermine (what you're using).
