If it still boots, you might as well just update the BIOS and save yourself any potential headaches later.

Oh yeah, for sure.
I wasn't planning on skipping a step. I was just wondering if I could use it normally after updating the BIOS and swapping the chip out if it boots with a weird name.

I'm probably going to pull the trigger on the 8350. I just saw it went on sale for $99.99 with a $40 MIR, down from $130 when i last checked when you mentioned it
