Hi,

I am considering upgrading my CPU. But I am not sure if the benefit will be great enough and what my system is able to handle.

I currently have;

Dell Dimension 8300
Intel i875PE chipset
800Mhz bus speed
mPGA-478 Coket
P4 2.6 Ghz HT Processor
512Kb L2 cache
200Mhz FSB

I was thinking about getting a P4 3.2 ghz processor, but am not sure if this is 100% compatible so some advice would be welcome. Also, is this the fastest I can get on this Mobo?

Can somebody also recommend a good CPU benchmark utility , where I can also compare to other processor so I can make the best jedgement call of price -> performace. ( I have pc wizard 2006, but the comparisons are not so fgood and complete enough for me).

Thanks

Jason

I wouldn't even bother with upgrading a Dell. You also don't know what socket your P4 is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but not all P4s fit in the same socket.

Everyone here knows how I feel about Dells. If you want to upgrade, you should upgrade your MB as well.
