Unnecessary Norton Processes?

I've recently installed Norton Anti-Virus with Norton Firewall and noticed how it was such a resource hog. Can anyone tell me some processes that aren't required for it to run? I already know VPTray.exe isn't important.

Scroll through this and decide which Symantec processos to leave on/take off.

As for my opinion of Symantec... lets just say it's not that great.

There are much better companies out there... It's just that Symantec is a well-known company. Which is a downside, as virus writers usually try and exploit the bigger companies by disabling their software. Which has been done.

You could just give norton to a friend or someone who wants it. I'm using the 30 day trial of NOD32 and I really like it, I might actually buy it once my 30 day evaluation period is up. It doesn't really use any resources and it detects a lot of stuff that other programs miss. I regret ever having used norton because it doesn't detect anything and the "antispyware" is useless too. Go with NOD32, AVG, Avast! or Avira antivirus. AVG, Avast! and Avira all have free versions if you're looking for a great free antivirus but if you don't mind paying go with NOD32, It rocks! and best of all I don't have to interact with it because it does its own thing which is nice.

Yeah, Nod32 is awesome. I love it.

You might want to look here Troy, some extra (more secure settings) for Nod32.
