I just disabled my Router from sending out any wireless signals. Im not a big fan of wireless.

Pretty much. If you read the turns and conditions of your ISP aggreement, the account holder the one responible for what is downloaded on your account.

Anything that is done via your ISP, via wired or wireless is your responsibility.

So if they use P2P and they get your IP address cause someone was leeching your wireless. You take the fall. Same thing if they get caught vieweing a child pr0n site. You get the blame. Even if you are found innocent of all charges the news papers alone would cause more dmamge to your reputation. Try getting a job after that news got leaked...

Anyway you look at it, there is nothign good that can come of it. Yeah if you are the leecher you can get someone else in trouble. But at the same time if these people are smart and they leave it open to see who leaches they can get you busted at the same time.

When we just moved to our current city, I setup my computer within 2 hours, obviously we had no internet... but there was about 20 wireless connections so I just kept on jacking other's internet till I got my own.

Also at one point the we moved to this house and the people from before forgot to disconnect their internet so I got like 7 month of free high speed internet They never found out...

I haven't bothered securing our connection. But maybe I shouldn't worry because the next closest house is about 1/2 mile away.

Yeah same here. If someone were to try and jump on my signal they would have to drive almost all the way up our 1/4 mile driveway to get close enough or rip through a field.

I got this one client. She's cancelled her phone line and internet connection a long time ago. It's just that some one forgot to remove her account and disconnet her line.

3 years later, still no bill or threatening letters from the telstra.

However she does pay me to go out and trouble-shoot here internet connection as she know that she's not going to get any help from telstra.

they can use any kind of Encryption, or Mac filtering,static IP etc.. If i want to and the people who really want to will get in no matter what, and you can call the geekquad to come and set up your wireless(too bad they set it up using WEP).
