Celery Golden Master Messages 6,355 Location USA May 29, 2020 #12 Enjoy the show Dan. AMD man understood what it is. The early Windows up to 3.11 ran as an application on DOS. Windows 95 became the first graphical OS. It installs as an OS so it's a kernel. Strollin should know that.

Celery Golden Master Messages 6,355 Location USA May 30, 2020 #19 No strollin, it's not because I says so, it's a fact. The net is full of Windows 95 articles and they all say the same thing, W95 is an OS from Microsoft. I still have the disk: Last edited: May 30, 2020

AMD_man Fully Optimized Messages 1,699 Location Argentina May 30, 2020 #20 What I fail to understand, strollin, is what you think DOS is. Is it the kernel? Is it something else? Is "Windows 9x" just the name of the GUI? Why can't "Windows 9x" be the name of the whole thing? Including GUI, kernel and system utilities?
