Trouble installing old Nvidia drivers in D820 (WinXP) laptop

I busted out an old D820 that used to be my dads work computer 15 years ago to play some retro PC games. I have all of the software, including a disk from Dell with all the drivers. My laptop supposedly has a NVIDIA® Quadro® NVS 120M. Under Comp Management it shows up as "Other devices" - "Video Controller (VGA Compatible)". Installing the drives from the disk, ones, from Dell's website, and drives I get from Nvidia's website all get the error when run: "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware."

Googling around naturally I don't find much discussion. I've had the laptop a part to replace the thermal paste and didn't notice anything wrong with it. Suggestions online state that the solder might have broken and the board needs reflowed.

I'd like to get this thing up and running. Otherwise it's a perfect XP laptop.

Personally, I don't understand what you want to say in your post, but it's clear that once you've made the changes, you won't be able to use the same drivers that worked with the original software and hardware.
Another thing is that any electronics wants it to work continuously, and after a long period of inactivity, it can break down irreversibly.
You have also provided very little information about your computer. This computer has been released in several different configurations and some of them are still usable even with Windiows 10.
Recommendation - If you are not very sure what you are doing, try to find some a local specialist who can help you or provide us more information so that someone here can recommend something to you.
In the future, try to ask very specific questions only.

I'm using an old laptop and the Nvidia drivers continue to fail. Is there a way to determine what is exactly wrong with my laptop?

Read this topic, especially the last post, maybe it helps somehow or gives some ideas.

NB! Don't worry that there is talked about Windows 7, 8 and Vista - the computer is the same and problem is the same.
