Tri-fire

Since its gonna be quite a while before I get my new video card, I am considering going tri-fire to hold me off until then. I don't really need more performance, I want to be able to enable span across two monitors (4870x2 doesnt support)
Anyway, should I get a 4870 or a 4890? I keep my x2 OC'd to 820/1040, so I think 4890 unless a 4870 can OC much without a waterblock (vaporX maybe?)

Or I could get a 4850 x2 and quadfire.

All cost about the same so.... ideas? I'm prolly gonna resell the card before I get my new one.

It does, just not span on them because one monitor is on each GPU.

They have to be driven by the same GPU to render games across both (eyefinity style)

Its impossible.

And still no...

it appears that GPU1 drives monitor 1, GPU2 drives monitor 2 but I cant figure out if this is true.

If not then it would be something with the drivers that allows it on my 4850 x2 but not the 4870 x2.
