Toshiba Vista to XP help

What do I have to do in terms of erasing vista and loading xp? I poped in a XP start up disk but it didnt work. Its got some kind of virus on it, I restored it but it is still messed up. Its actually just the internet. Its slow and random pop ups come up like 5 at a time every 5-10min. Im not familiar with Vista. If it was XP I would just reformat. Should I try to find the Vista CD and reformat?

Once Vista is installed on a hard drive, you have to run Vista.

Erm no. A drive is just a storing peripheral. Just pop the CD, and reformat when you are prompted for disk selection.

Right. That "no other OS" rumor came from laptops as very few people figured out how to get RAID drivers installed on the laptop so they could install XP. People go back so often I'm suprised that rumor is around.
