I dunno if any of you know this (since you are all quite inginuitive so you may have) but if you wanna to test some Cat5 Network Cable, and dont have a cable tester, just plug one end into your Hub or Switch, and then the other end into Another Port. If Both LED's light up, the cable is fine.

ha, i was doin that yesterday to test ports on a hub...i guess it worked

but it doesnt work with crossover cables and the port needs to work so if one doesnt light up make sure the ports work

yeah, i guess there are quite a few weaknesses in the method but its still more convientent than buying a tester

hella cheaper too, i picked up those hubs for like 1.50 each

yeah, you never know what you an use for something completely differnet with something you already had.....
