Thunderbird.

I'm trying to use thunderbird for my hotmail and yahoo email address's but when I follow the steps to do so, I don't have access. If anybody has done this before, can they give me the steps to use thunderbird as my email client?

You can't use thunderbird for yahoo or hotmail. They use proprietary protocols. You can use MS outlook or outlook express though. But, not thunderbird.

You CAN use Thunderbird for Y! Mail but you have to have the Mail Plus package. The same is true for Outlook and most other mail clients.

(Yes, I do speak from experience.)

I know you can do it, I've gone through the tutorials but I must be doing something wrong. Macdude, whats the mail plus, is that for yahoo or thunderbird?

I use thunderbird with yahoo... well, SBCYahoo. Works fine for me. You just have to look up their server settings.

Mailshack is a free POP3 e-mail server, if you're interested in that.

gmail works fine. just turn on POP3 in the options.
