Dont know it will help this sort of problem since you said you did spyware scans and virus scans but have you tryed more than one or two diffrent types of say spyware or virus scans?

Well, it's over. The box is dead. I did a complete wipe of HD and windows XP pro reinstall. Runs a lot better , too.
