127.0.0.1 = loop back address

127.0.0.1 = localhost

well, yes its the loop back address... the address of the local host. I am aware of that. I was being facetious because he was talking about that address as the IP for his host, and I pretty much meant that as that would be fine if we were performing a loopback test. I figured people would get that instead of taking it literally and not having to go into an indepth explanation.
