I got a new PC last week and there's already a problem! The computer will turn on but the OS (Windows XP Pro) won't load, and there's no loading process shown, or heard (i.e. no beeps). My computer stats:

Windows XP
AMD Athlon 2000+ 1.67GHz
512MB RAM
ATi Radeon 9550 128MB
1024 x 768
80GB hard drive + DVD player/burner

I'm guessing a HD problem because the power supply appears to work fine. Any suggestions on a fix?

I don't understand you at all .

Its been only a week ???!?!?!??! - use your warranty.

If you think it's a HD problem, what does S.M.A.R.T say?

Or will it even boot as far as BIOS?
It doesn't go as far as BIOS, no.

I think a HD, my old man suspects RAM, and another separate forum member thinks power supply.

so ABSOLUTELY nothing appears on screen, no beep code and no hdd activity. that is pretty strange my friend. i say power supply is most likely. if it was the hdd the computer would still POST and you would most likely get a beep code or an error on screen to tell you your hdd had failed. as for ram then you would almost certainly get a beep code, and should still get something on screen. check the psu
