I've been getting Stop Errors for the last few weeks now, and my theories about the problem have changed as time goes on and new info presented itself.

The Blue Stop Error Screen alludes to hardware and/or drive errors and suggests checking all hardware connections, running memory checks and updating all drivers.

Technical Stop Error message read:

Stop: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D; 0x00000000; 0x00000000)

I performed a Memory Check using WinDiag from Microsoft and my memory passed all tests and updated my Geforce 7300 GT 512 video drivers. No luck.

I ran a virus scan in safe mode using SmitFraudFix, ATF Cleaner & AVG Anti-Spyware. Found some generic spyware which were cleaned. Still no luck.

I then found some additional info from the System Event Manager:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error #1: System Control Manager: Event ID: 7026
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
szkg

From the Help & Support Center details on this error:
Symbolic Name: EVENT_BOOT_SYSTEM_DRIVERS_FAILED
Message: The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: %1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error #2: System Control Manager: Event ID: 7001
The Infrared Monitor service depends on the IrDA Protocol service which failed to start because of the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

From the Help & Support Center details on this error:
Symbolic Name: EVENT_SERVICE_START_FAILED_II
Message: The %1 service depends on the %2 service which failed to start because of the following error:
%3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error #3: System Control Manager: Event ID: 7000
The IrDA Protocol service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

From the Help & Support Center details on this error:
Symbolic Name: EVENT_SERVICE_START_FAILED
Message: The %1 service failed to start due to the following error:
%2.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have noted these three errors listed consecutively in the event log everytime I have experienced a Stop Error.

I did a quick google search on the driver szkg and found two things: One site associated that driver with STOPzilla! which I remember vaguely as either being anti-spyware software, or, spyware itself.

Another post from a different site indicated that it was caused by a virus and nothing should be attempting to use that drive.

Since then I did a Windows XP repair install, which proved unsuccessful as I am still getting the Stop Errors.

One further thing to note is that after most of the crashes now, my computer has a hell of a time restarting. The fans power up, but the comp shuts down before windows initializes. Sometimes it's after a few seconds, sometimes the fans will run indefiantely without the system loading before I have to shut it off manually. Sometimes it takes a long as an hour before my comp properly start up. Although, I've noticed that every time it happens and I unplug all the peripherals and connections and open it up to check the fans, it starts up first time afterwards.

If anyone has any experience with this sort of situation it would be greatly appreciated as I've done everything I can think of using my very limited computer skills and I don't seem to be getting anywhere but further from figuring it out.

you said you updated video drivers, but what about chipset drivers? or sound and lan drivers?
