startup problem

hi all,i am having a problem at startup,when i start my laptop it boots up normally passed the logon screen then i get a message that i have no paging file or that the paging file is to small, it also tells me how to create or change the settings, then when i click ok the message disappears and all i have got is a blank pink screen, ithen have to press ctrl,alt, delete to open programs, i am running windows 2000, can anyone help,thanks nigel.
 
before the windows 2000 boot screen shows up, hit f8, and select use last good configuration.
 
hi, sorry its been so long to reply but i'm having to use someone else's pc now,anyway i have tried that but still the same,i've tried all the options on the f8 screen, all come back to a blank screen,i have been able to get to the desktop by pressing ctrl,alt delete then open program then right click c drive and then the desktop appears as normal and everything works normally,once this opens i do get an error message about "idlist" if that helps,
