split hardrive

I have split my 40 gig hardrve one being disc C 20 GIG,the other disc f also 20 gig's.My kids use the F side for computer cd games.This has worked well for a long while now but yesterday it froze during one of their games.We had quite a time restarting the computer but after a while all was well.
My son tried using his cd game again today,but a box comes up saying the F drive needs to be formatted.Should I choose the yes option as it won't let you do anything else.My C drive is working as well as always.

Whats it say in disk management about the partition?

How do I get to disk management?

Goto control panel > admin tools > computer management, and its in there

The f drive is basic,healthy,18gig capacity.The c drive tells me the same in the split partition.This is in the disk manager section
