sound on xp

I had XP put onto my computer- everything fine but the sound - i think there is something wrong with XP sound drivers. I updated my sound card drivers but no difference. when I play any sound files it is fine its just when I say play a game the sound is distorted. A friend just put XP on for me - no purchase.

What games are you playing when the sound gets distorted? What sound card is it? And what are the other specs of your computer?

I had that problem..but the Games would some times work.. but i figured that the Windows Audio Wasn't Turned on.
