Received an interesting spam email this morning:

It was sent to me and nine others who, apparently just like me, have also had our refund rejected. /sarcasm

Checking the originating IP address I see that it leads back to the Russian Federation, 79.133.131.81 to be exact (have fun with this one for those who know how). The link leads to a page on an Australian web site (didn't click the link, and only checked out the main site - NSSCC - Home).

I had a good laugh about this one. Maybe Australia has an Electronic Federal Tax Payment System, but the US does not. Methinks the Ruskies need to go back to school and learn a few things before they try to scam people from other countries.

All oldies are goldies, this is set out every year around tax time and it catches a crap load of people out in a massive way.

But, they don't state that when sending you an email, as at that point, you are not using a gov owned system, you are using commercial and residential systems.

Well, at least, from the few legit emails I have received from gov agencies.
