Something is off on my settings, please help!

I have a problem on my laptop, Presario 900, that I can't seem to fix. I am running Windows XP and it is updated.

The problem is that in programs such as Excel and IE, I can't see background colors, highlighted fields, etc. For example, if I were to visit www.gmail.com, then the page would look completely white except for the font and the form.

When I try to view an Excel spreadsheet, I cannot see the fill color that I choose for the fields that I apply fill color to.

It didn't used to be this way, and I can't figure out what setting has been changed. It is driving me crazy. Can anyone please help?

Try System Restore- to a date that it wasn't doing it. That's a possible quick fix. If it's still doing it after performing a System Restore, post back.
