Something I was pondering...

Seeing as most current applications use a single core when a person might have two or more cores in their processor is it technically possible for one core to "wear out" before the other?
For instance, almost always when I look at the CPU usage for each core, the first core has more activity going on compared to the other. Additionally temps on the first core are generally a few degrees higher than the other. Thoughts on this?

I could be wrong about this, but I'm sure it is possible for one core to go before the other. However, it is almost impossible to tell, because if one core goes, the entire processor is down for the count.

yeah that would be right, and I guess if one core lasts long enough under stress until you replace it then so should a dual core CPU. It's just something I was curious about but not that it really matters.
