Yea I love that guy too lol. I can't look at that picture without laughing like a moron.
It has been known to happen. My last job, I used to look after these PCs that were used in the field. They relied on the mobile phone system to track jobs and show maps of the local water pipes. If there was a lot of solar flair activity, I would be getting lots of problems for the next few days.

It would affect more than wifi, there are a lot of devices that use 2.4Ghz spectrum.
A lot of cheap consumer devices such as RF mice would be affected.

No other RF devices being used at the time it happened.
Made a difference to my time sheet and paycheck that week. If I was still working that job, I would be hooting for 21 Dec 2012.
