First let me say that I am new to the forum and appreciate any help that I can get. I am by no means tech savy but can operate a computer for day to day tasks. I bought a budget lenovo for school and the internet stopped working when hardlined or wireless. I called tech support who ran me through some tests and told me that it was a software issue and that i needed to send them the computer and $140 to repair it since as they put it "software isn't covered in the warranty". I loaded Ubuntu 10.10 and when I ran firefox from linux I was able to connect just fine. Does this confirm that it is a software error like tech support says, and can I download firefox or some other free software onto a flash drive from another computer and then install it back on the lenovo? I like the linux OS, but want to have a windows capable computer as well for compatibility. Thanks for any help or suggestions.
