Software Development Questions

Hey all, I just accepted a seat in software development and wondering what people in the program currently think of it?

Additionally, would you be able to offer insight into whether or not I need that beefy spec laptop they recommend for the first semester? I have a decent windows rig at home, and a m1pro 2021 and Im hoping that the first semester we might not need the windows laptop..

Also, for someone who has self studied a decent amount as something to do this past year, do you think the work load would be too overwhelming to work 30 hours a week?

I know a decent amount of HTML, CSS, Python(Up to like chapter 11 in PY4E), and Javascript(functions, objects etc. Sort of took a break after learning about tying it all together to manipulating the DOM).
