I know it's stupid, but down here people say "coke" a lot of the time. I know, I know, it makes no sense at all, I don't know how it started. When someone asks you "do you want a coke?" the response is "what kind?". Really weird. But when I'm ordering at a restaurant I either say something like "I'll have a large drink" or the actual name of the drink. I rarely hear soda.

I say coke a lot...but I'll occasionally say soda as well.....I never say 'pop' though with the exception of referring to my dad

'pop' seems to be more of an eastern united states thing....that's what I've noticed anyway.

I've heard that USA=soda, and Canada=Pop. Everyone I know calls it pop here.

yup Canadians use Pop, Soda for the americans, the british have another word for if I am not mistaken...
