I just built my new HTPC and i'm currently installing FC5 and mythtv. i've been using slackware for awhile now but this just seems easier. Even my wireless mouse/keyboard worked without having to configure anything.

What are the downsides to FC5?

It's bloated, RPM is a piece, and...it's Red Hat.

I'll think of more here soon, just give me time.

Yep. You should try Debian. It's working great on my MythTV box. All I had to do was:

apt-get install mythtv

But it turns out I was just lucky, as the MythTV packages seem to be broken now.

V6,

Yeah redhat is not for everyone, in fact true story people I know that have installed FC 6 months later has moved on to another Distro, I myself think it is too bloated and I HATE RPMs with a passion. Do yourself a favor move on to another distro NOW before you drive yourself nuts...

i've never had a problem with rpm's, very simple to install for a newb so i'm in favour of it though i use ubuntu and debian
