So Dubledore is gay.... what do you think?

What was the point, if it was true to her or not? It never came to be asked in the books.

Anyways, what does it matter if he is? :S

well I've already read today that one school in the US has banned harry potter books, allegedly because of the content of witchcraft but who are they kidding?

All this is going to do is give JK Rowling and the Harry Potter series a bad name amongst those who aren't so accepting of other peoples sexuality.

It was a very bad idea IMO its going to backfire if what she was after was more sales.

Great, thats just what we want our kids to be reading .

Why wouldn't we want our kids reading this?

Their is nothing wrong with being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, etc. Everytime something like this happens (gay character in book, etc), It just helps defeat homophobia. Their is nothing wrong with 2 male characters in a book loving eachother, having a relationship, etc.

Harry potter IMO is crap, but I am extremely happy about the positive view about gay characters.

I think when it comes to a book, its the reader thats meant to decide what the character ends up looking like, and anything that isn't speculated is rendered by the brain.
So, some readers may have already came to that conclusion, or maybe not.

But, in this situation, it was up to the reader.

Lets not forget that NOWHERE in the books does it say that he is gay, this is just what J.K Rowling just said.

What a touchy subject. People these days fail miserably and making their kid's opened minded.

Quit your whining...

It's not like JK Rowling wrote the book to be some hardcore pornographic novel. There are only small references to him being gay and it's nothing detailed. Some of my friends were like "where was this?"

Pretty sad how people these days still have discrimination against sexual orientation. There were no sordid details or anything depicting Dumbledore doing anything that would be considered harmful to children. Heck, it's a great way to expose them to homosexuality and all other sorts of orientations without being too controversial.

Yeah, there wasn't anything in the books that directly said he was gay, just small references and hints.

I agree.

Exactly. And besides, if they went into detail on a straight relationship, would you want your kids reading that?

I don't care what way it goes, straight or gay, they don't need to see such details. And in these books, those details don't exist.
