SHUT DOWN doesnt work

Having a win98 OS.My windows shut down funct is not working suddenly.Now i am using the "alt+ctrl+del" key twice.What may be the problem??

Okay, what you should do is try using MS-DOS and typing in

shutdown -f -t 00

I'll rip that apart for you, the "shutdown" is telling MS-DOS to use an app called "shutdown" and the "-f" is telling it to force the shutdown, not letting any programs keep it from happening, and the "-t 00" is telling it to shut down in a time of 00 seconds.

Why don't you go into your startup processes and get rid of some un-needed stuff. See if that works.

i find that when tryig to do this "shutdown -f -t 00" ,it was shown as wrong command.

that shutdown command is only available in winxp.

Is it second edition or first edition? Microsoft has a patch for this problem. Have you completed all your windows updates?

You should update if not. Really nothing we could do beside reinstall Windows...
If you going to Reinstall windows you should get
Windows XP Professional x64 Edtion

NO,i havn't.Will there be a problem to shut down if i dont update regularly???If somebody doesn't have a internet connection!!!!
