serial ata cables

I had a question regarding serial ata cables. Can they be used on CD/DVD RW and zip drives. I have an ABIT IC-7G motherboard with four serial ata ports and was considering hooking up the cables. I already have the serial cable so the only thing I would need to buy is a IDE to serial ata adapter. The CD/DVD drive is a dell and the zip drive is an imogea 250 drive. Both are approx 1.5 years old. Thanks

Well, it would be pretty pointless to do that as the data transfer speed would remain unchanged. It's still an IDE drive designed for IDE speed. If you really want to though, it should work.
