Well, I need a new monitor quick-like. I am going down to costco tomorrow to pick one up.

Sceptre

Acer

The specs on the Sceptre looks alot better, even more real estate with a larger resolution. It seems great for the price. But my 22' Sceptre I was totally happy with until my DVI went out and I had to use VGA with it, and then it totally died.

I am afraid to try the 'better looking' sceptre, and I kind of want to just go with the acer because its new to me.

I can look at them tomorrow but I cant know for sure till I get them in my house. I am going to buy two of whichever one.

Discuss what you would do?

If you have not bought it yet, I would go with the Acer. I have NEVER had problems with Acer. Sceptre, on the other hand, has not done too well. I know a few people who bought Sceptre brand monitors before and they tend to die quickly, or have dead pixels, or bad out puts. Acer is a great brand with good recognition.

I'd get the Acer, personally. For one, it's just a more reputable brand IMHO. Secondly, every company lies about their contrast ratio (Samsung says some of theirs are like 50,000:1...). Thirdly, the resolutions aren't that far off, and I'm not sure why you would need anything more than the Acer offers. At any rate, the price point is bad for either.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for confirming my beliefs.

I will probably go with the Acer. I hope to get down there today, looks like I wont so now I am shooting for tomorrow. But this 17' monitor is killing me after being on a 22'' for 4 years.

I am going to sell my 17'' to recoup some money as well.
