SBC merged (proposed at least)

SBC and AT&T to announce merger just as Verizon and MCI did. Telecomm companies are always shuffling around. I'm pretty sure the merger will go through. In the end, it's always about providing diverse services and dealing with a large number of customers. VoIP is scheduled to be the big improvement with the merger. Once the acquisition is completed, SBC will adopt the AT&T name.

The merger for both deals has already gone through. The Justice Department okayed them yesterday. The only thing left is for the FCC to sign off on the deals which could be as early as today.
