Saving videos as .gif images?

I use Imageready that comes with Photoshop. I know that it can take AVI or Quicktime movies and convert them.

are there any good free ones you guys know about or a really good one you have to pay for? besides photoshop?

while playing the video, press "print screen" on the keyboard, go to notepad and press paste, then save the image as a GIF. That costed nothing!
