samsung omnia, no service, wanting to use wifi for texting

im currently out of the states and have canceled my service on my omnia i910 cell phone and am trying to see if there is an app or program out there that will let me use wifi to text people back home in the states... my ipod touch used to do it, but it is out of commission now and no longer works...
