Yes you can but only if the failing hard drive is still recognizable by the bios. Does the old hard drive still attempt to boot into windows? Are you getting the unmountable boot volume? Is it clicking and doing nothing? The latter 2 are your best case senario. If it's clicking, try putting it in the freezer overnight and then try to image immediately while still cold. We have actually image a drive with it in the freezer with success! Best of luck!
