Hey guys. I have a problem with a free registry cleaner dubbed 'Ccleaner'. It came highly recomended by cnet. The reason I even got the cleaner is that on bootup my computer halts because the system.ini files refers to these two missing .vxd files which some program is requesting. Seeing as how I have nill experience in manually cleaning the registry I don't know what to do or how to find the offending program.
Any tips? I want to automate a lot of tasks and failure to complete the bootup would probably prevent this when the sysytem isn't on standby, but completely powered down.
Thanks.

if you click start
then run
type sysedit
then hit enter
it will bring up the ini files
xp does not use those files anymore, they are left over from legacy os. vxd was probably a virus.

when you get to the ini file you need do a search or find , whatever

To LA1: Thanks! I am running the legacy OS, by the way. I'm a student who's really short on cash, so I built a frankenstein out of a few older computers. I just need this thing for a surfing/music/wordprocessing machine. This plane flies on freeware all the way, baby. *sardonic grin*
