Hello -
I am trying to determine if OpenShift (via Kubernetes) can horizontally autoscale running on top of AWS EC2? Specifically, can OpenShift provision automatically additional EC2 instances as needed to host additional pods?
And, then conversely, can OpenShift then contract i.e., spin down the previously spun up EC2 instances once the surge is satisfied?
In a nutshell, I want to know if OpenShift can perform horizontal autoscaling by making API calls to AWS by itself in order to spin up additional EC2 instances and then spin down EC2 instances when they are no longer needed?
I have been told that OpenShift cannot do this.
If anyone has direct, hands-on experience with OpenShift in this regard, I would love to hear from you.
