Recover Disk Space after deleting ISO

Well, I found my first problem with my Mac.

I have a powerbook 15" 1.33Ghz with a 60Gig drive.

Recently I put some dvd iso's on my mac to watch while on vacation. Now after I delete them (drag em to the trash can, then empty the can) I don't get my disk space back. I currently have about 3 gig's of personal data plus the os and programs (very few) on my mac, but it says I only have 8GB of space left.

Any idea of what's going on? Does it keep a backup of the files you delete somewhere that I need to empty?

Never mind, after the 2nd restart it ran FileVault to recover "missing disk space" and I got the space back.
