Recording TV to computer

What's the best way to record TV programmes to computer and then, if desired, record to DVD?

your best bet is to get a tv out pci card, and they usually they come with software to record tv shows, if you already have the tv card then if I were you I would search google.
 
Yeah get a TV IN card, I dunno the quality of some of the cards since I've never used one, but I'm sure the difference isn't that big between cards.
 
Actually there can be a HUGE difference between cards. Most PCI cards are the same, but I've seen some as low as 160x120. Normal DVD res is 720x480 for DV, or 640x480 for you're standard analog.

Probably the best way to go(if you don't mind spending about $250) would be get a DV/firewire card, then find some DV Bridge. That's what I do... The quality is wonderful, it's easy to edit if you'd like, and you can send it back out to you're TV/VCR. Or, of course, you could convert for VCD/DVD burning.
