For one thing, 1TB is not a lot of space for backup by today's standards (imho)
On a second note, you'll never get the speed from your SSD through a usb port. Even a 3.1 usb port will max out way before the SSD can, If your going to get an SSD drive, get a drive that you can install in your pc (500 gb ssd drives are less than $100. many cheaper drives are under $50.) and use your platter drive for the back up. You can get usb 3.1 enclosures for your current platter drive.
btw: I'm not seeing any links or anything else to refer to this drive you posted about

My bad, link below

Thanks, Im not looking for speed per say, more durability..

I use 2 x WD external 1TB HDDs at the moment, but I will be replacing with SSD.

1TB is based on my data, not the average joe, so not asking on a school lesson on that or why pick an HDD over SSD.

Just want a good comparison of the SSD against others in its class.

Cheers

As far as I know, Samsung makes the best drives today, they are usually the fastest and highest rated for durability ssd's you can get.

You could save a few bucks by going with an external enclosure
https://www.amazon.co.uk/2-5-Inch-Tool-free-External-Enclosure-Black-USB-3-0/dp/B079FR7H5H/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=enclosure&qid=1566688965&s=computers&sr=1-6

And then get a Samsung 1tb ssd and pop that in the enclosure... it is tooless
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-MZ-76E1T0B-EU-Solid-State/dp/B078WST5RK/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Samsung+EVO+ssd&qid=1566689132&s=computers&sr=8-1
you'll save about £40.00

If you want comparison's, then you'll have to google that for yourself, I'm willing to help but not to do your own decisions

Samsung hands down, and the T5 you linked is plenty quick enough if you indeed plug it into a Gen 2 port. Even still a gen 1 USB 3.1 port is quick enough for ~500MB/s anyways. More than enough compared to any platter drive.
