Read Error

My computer always worked fine, this morning when i woke up and tried to turn it on, my screen just just "A disk read error occured Press CTRL+AL+DEL to Restart"

I tried plugging in anothber harddrive and all it will let me do is boot up that drive in Safe Mode

Any ideas?

Try going to the drive manufacturer's website and downloading their diagnostic utility and test the drive.

Like I said I cant boot up the drive to run a diagnostics tool, on top of that i dont think its the drive because it does that same thing for both drives i have tried to plug in.

I also got anther error that says "Insufficent memory to initialize windows."

It makes no sense because i have 1GB of RAM in the computer.

And this all just happened when I turned on the computer today?

The diagnostic utility runs off a floppy.

How's the power supply? It could not be supplying enough juice the the drive causing the erors.

Hmm... Do you some other memory to try? If you have multiple sticks, try running one at a time.
