re-activate after re-installation?

you had to copy the wpl.bak fle too. but it doesn't seem to work anymore as microsoft want you to call in

So did you copy the wpa.bak file as well when trying the wpa trick?
I'm curious to know so I know whether or not this thing still works.

no, didn't try the wpl.bak yet. that wasn't in the original instructions...
 
first you just need the wpa.dbl. then later on you needed to copy the wpa.bak file too (this was after ms had found out that there were a lot of activation cracks going around). now neither seem to work

You gotta copy the files while in SAFE mode.. *shrugs*

I've only activated my OS once.. but I hate the idea of MS having control on how many reinstalls I can perform before having to call them and start giving them more info than they already have. :angry:

i wish all this additional info made it into the original post. how do i get into safe mode?
