And people say rednecks are dumb for crushing beer cans on their heads lol.
Well I guess this is a good example that the how does not justify the why. Not sure if they do that to reduce trash volume. At least not if specifically or as originally intended.

I'm starting to wonder if we're saying the same thing a different way because of a possible language barrier?

Would these constitute as a remaster, or recomposition in your opinion?

Original (Start at 18:28 the copy is messing up)
Redbook

Same soundtracks (Redbook is out of order on YT), just the newer one was redone music for the Playstation. The composition is mainly in tact and they correspond to the same levels, but the instrumentation is different due to having a vastly improved set of tools to use and technology compared to 1994. To me, this is a remaster. That's what I feel about the 3DO version vs the original.

This is also what constitutes as a remaster. (Level 1 vs Level 1)

Redbook for comparison (This one could be wrong, I only listened to 30 seconds)

Another example of remaster vs original.

Ah, thinking about it, I don't think music is remade, as a common terminology. It's either remastered or remixed. I think we've been talking all this time about remastering of music that simply sound different because of the instruments used and re-composition but to make it the same but sounding better. They are all the same music but just sound different because of the tech used. Kinda, but not exactly, like playing a midi on different soundfonts or midi chips on different sound cards. I'm referring to both the 3DO Doom music and what you linked above to. 3DO Doom's could be considered a remix just because it was composed from scratch, but so much with the original notes in mind that audio-wise I would consider it a remaster.

A remix is like Sega Genesis Lion King's on a hand and all other Lion Kings' on other platforms. I didn't provide samples for this so here:
Level 1 on Genesis:

Same on SNES:

Here's another good example from the first Sonic game:

Remix:

Or if you're a classic PC gamer, from Tyrian:

Remix:

...which could give a different vibe and could even be in a different genre. At some point such remixes could feel like a complete different music to the ear until recognizable parts show up. 3DO Doom music vs Dos's doesn't give that, to me at least. The links you provided too. Unless the hardware is way too inferior/awful that the music sounds so distorted or something like that, which is a different matter.

On the other hand, playing same midis on different hardware or soundfonts could sound different but they are actually the exact same thing; the same midi file. So I guess midi vs midi of the same file does not fit here. So let's exclude this part because it's a special case and since the comparison will then be on the hardware/software level, not the music itself. 3DO Doom is not using this method. It's clear from the way it sounds and the composer did say he re-composed it, if I remember correctly.

I believe the word remake works for things like games. But yeah, seems like it's the remix synonym in this case.

Ok, it's over a week, how long do people stay in hospital when doing radiation or chemotherapy? Cel hasn't been here for long time now. Can't get him on privite message. I hope he is ok!

I'm trying to find his email in my mailbox. Can't reach a good keyword for that. I can't remember any distinguishing words he said. Stupid memory.

I remember I could send him an email from CF that does not show his email address. I think to see private messages he must log in here. That kinda doesn't help. Unless he gets email notifications for them and he did not turn it off.

Glad you are still around SG!! I wish some of the other gang would come here more often. Feel like we are the only ones from the O'le gang here. Kinda like holding up the fort!

Just FYI, I am trying to get Linux installed but have been having many issues getting the windows 10 off and Ubuntu installed. I get it on a memory stick but when i reboot it just don't load and format the drive. Still working on it. Sooner or later i will have success! I don't give up easy

Right now i can't get any of my usb slots to show on the file explorer. It don't see any drives other than my backup drive and C: drive. I think windows is messing with me.
