Ram Upgrade Help

Hey guys, I'm a novice at upgrading my computer so I need some help.

I own a Dell Dimension 8520, Pentium 4, and I have only 256 RDram dual channel.

I want to upgrade to 512 ram, but I don't know which one will be compatible with my computer. I need something that's good and easy on the price. Please help me out.

Is it the Dell Dimension 8250 or the 8520? I don't think it matters that much anyways. If you use Rambus RAM, they're very limited in supplies. You want 512MB total? Here's another 256MB stick you can get:

Oops I'm sorry, but it is 8250.

I was thinking about getting Kingston's DDR SDRAM. Do you think this will work on my system? I'll have four slots available if I take out the 2 rambus rams.

Well, you can't really use that type of RAM. Not compatible with what your PC supports. You need RDRAM and not DDR SDRAM unfortunately. RDRAM are expensive, but that's Rambus for you. That's why a lot of people don't get Intel with supported Rambus memory controllers.

Get two of these in dual channel:

Read the directions carefully. That's a really good site for your RAM.

Well.. that really sucks! I'm stuck with expensive ram that practically no local store has.

Yeah, Rambus is fading like how soap dissolves. DDR is the way to go. Let me give you some online links to order from.

Actually, don't get those RAM. Get two of these:

I found out from Dell's website that you need ECC to work with what you have.

Just get 2 512 sticks... that'll run you about seventy bucks, and would actually make that piece-of-s*** that was outsourced in India USABLE!!!
